<Brennen> I know very close to nothing about information theory, but since I do stuff with computers it must seem like I should. Some months ago I had a co-worker ask me about the topic, and whether there were any books I would suggest. I remember mentioning ClaudeShannon, NealStephenson (Cryptonomicon certainly hits on related ideas in a layperson-approachable way), and a few other things. After a while it became clear that what my colleague was really looking for was some species of quantum-mystical bullshit. Maybe I should have suggested RogerPenrose. I'm kind of curious how widespread this particular meme has become.
