2014/12/17 I'm writing a bit about the command line again (surprise), and I hadn't read In the Beginning was the Command Line in ages. Somehow searching for that one got me reading this Neal Stephenson interview on Slashdot.
2011/10/2 reading
2004/1/2 Eric called and left a message, said the server was acting strange. When I logged in, a few hundred instances of the script that glues this site together were churning through infinite loops, whirring along in perplexed expectation of an entry I had failed to create for 2004.
1999/12/6 Monday, December 6, 21:00 CST / A bit more minor ASCII art.
1999/10/13 Wednesday, October 13, 23:50 CDT / There was a recent /. piece about The Big U, by Neal Stephenson. I gather it was published back in the early 80's, and sort of disappeared not long thereafter. It's Stephenson's first novel, and apparently not one he's very proud of, but still I've been wanting to read it for quite a while. There were a lot of suggestions to try inter-library loan, and I figured it was worth the effort of asking... Amazingly enough, a copy actually showed up today as I was dozing through Physics. Brightened my whole day.
1999/5/4 Tuesday, May 4, 23:55 CDT / I saw Go the other night. Not a great film or anything, but entertaining, with some *really* funny moments.
1998/8/5 Wednesday, August 5, 12:12 CDT I finished Zodiac, by Neal Stephenson yesterday. Not quite as good as Snow Crash or The Diamond Age, but still entertaining. And unlike The Diamond Age, it has a real ending.
