Well, so much for regular updates. Yeesh.

I finished A Clash of Kings, by George R.R. Martin around 3:00 Friday morning. It's the 2nd volume in A Song of Ice and Fire, which began with A Game of Thrones, one of the best Fantasy novels I've ever read.

A Song of Ice and Fire is developing into a brilliant piece of work. It's massive, complex, beautifully written, and takes place in a uniquely believable world, on an epic scale. It deals with realistic characters, politics, and religion. It doesn't flinch away from the harsh realities of the kind of world it depicts. *This* is why I love Fantasy.

On the downside, of course, it's going to be a long wait for the next 4 volumes. And what if, in the meantime, Martin gets hit by a delivery truck while crossing the street, or chokes on a bagel? *sigh*

Amazon also has a decent interview with Martin.
